Hometown Christmas

The Smith County Chamber of Commerce, Tourist Development Committee, local businesses, and the city of Carthage held their annual Open House, November 25th, 2012. This event consisted of their first annual Gingerbread decorating contest, horse drawn carriage rides, a live nativity scene, Santa Clause, live music, & plenty of hot chocolate, coffee, and other goodies. This event was held on the County Courthouse square and at locally owned businesses throughout town who offered a wide range of refreshments, door prizes, & specials for their guest.

A well decorated courthose before the event Enjoying the weather on Main Street The local businesses decorated their storefronts for the season Walking down Main Street was an enjoyable & eye pleasing adventure
More and more people were headed to the square as time grew closer The shop windows reflected the pride of the town One of the mucisians warming up A couple of carolers sneaking in a little shopping before their performance
The sidewalks were filling with shoppers & entertainment The courthouse lawn was filled with activity Visitors enjoyed free refreshments provided by local businesses around the square The carriage ride was a great addition to the festive atmosphere
Visitors enjoyed the live nativity scene and animals This young lady will remember petting her first calf for a long time Everybody was enjoying the day and the weather A great way to spend with family and friends
The camels were a hit The live nativity scene was sponsored by Brush Creek Baptist Church Just enjoying the ride Taking a well deserved break
