Crossville Tennessee

Crossville is an old Tennessee town formally known as Lambeth's Crossroads, named after Samuel Lambeth who opened the first store. The store was built at the crossroads of a cattle trail and wagon trail around the 1800's pretty close to where US 70 and US 127 cross today.

There are many historical buildings and locations around the city of Crossville well worth taking the time to see. The downtown area is only about 10 minutes off Interstate 40 with many restaurants offering a tasty break from traveling. After your meal I highly recommend walking around the downtown area and visit some of the locally owned stores and shops.

I don't know how long this law office has been here, but they want youto think a long time Part of a mural painted on the corner of Main St. Entrance to Mitchell's Drug Store on Main St. Original window details - Drugs & Coke, what a paradox
The font style is reflective of the era Mitchells's still offers these items as well as unique gifts and other neat items Across the Street is an office built into an older home... hence the term home-office The historic Crossville train depot featured in the movie "Sergeant York"
Crossville believes in "Supporting your local business" That corner office on the second floor might be a little tight, don't you think Another look at the mural and some of the architectural styles to be found Apparently cops have been eating doughnuts for a long time, at least he looks happy
Located behind the Courthouse North side of the courthouse The Cumberland County Courthouse was built in 1905 - North side view The old building styles found in small towns are what gives a town it's personality
North east corner of the courthouse Just incase your asked to leave town - they at least offer you choices The Cumberland County Courthouse was built in 1905 The Military Memorial Museum Of Upper Cumberland, at least that's what it says
Looking north on Main Street The restored Palace Theater This building serves many purposes for Crossville, town hall meetings, plays, and yes, also movies The southside of the courthouse
Up close and personal The Cumberland County Civil War memorial located across the street from the courthouse Heading east on Highway 70 just outside of Crossville I came across this old sign. The interstate system was not always progress for some

A family tradition These building and others found in the Upper Cumberland region were built with locally quarried sandstone The former Highway Patrol headquarters built in 1936 The Crossville Chamber of Commerce and Military Memorial Museum
These adjoining houses are now used for office space, directly behind the courthuose The architectural elements are well done, just move the power lines please Mitchell's Drug store, family owned and well supported by the community The writing is on the wall
Did I also mention Mitchell's offers cosmetics as well One last shot of the mural, no cars... ta-dah! Talk about being close to your work... and dogs What a great way to bring in more customers from Main St.
I bet the "Hole In The Wall" had some interesting stories Thank you to those who gave their life for our nation The Military Memorial Museum The Crossville Depot was built in 1900 and is now used for meeting space
